I used Open Carriers to transport my car from Johannesburg to Cape Town and back. When my car was delivered, I noticed visible scratches on the side and side mirror. I immediately reported this to Matt, who assured me that they would cover the costs and that I had adhered to all terms. However, after several follow-ups, my emails were ignored, and I was told lies about the insurance covering the damage. In the end, my insurance covered the repairs, but I had to pay an excess, and Open Carriers refused to take responsibility or reimburse me. Be cautious when using their services—if your car is damaged, they'll forget you even used them. I’ve just seen another review from a customer who had the same issue with them denying insurance claims. Wish I had seen this before!read more

This review comes a year after my ordeal, as I waited for my insurance company to conclude their investigation into the blatant fraud committed by this company. Let me be clear: Open Road Carriers is the epitome of dishonesty and unprofessionalism.For years, I used their service every December to transport my car from Cape Town to Johannesburg. The turnaround time was always impressive, the car was delivered on time, and as a regular customer, I even received a discount. I trusted them implicitly, and for a while, it seemed like a great arrangement. But as is often the case, you only see a company’s true colours when something goes wrong.A year ago, they transported my car again—but this time, they severely damaged the roof and scraped the ceiling of my vehicle. Upon collecting my car (the damage only became evident the next day), I immediately contacted them. Their response? Blatant denial. They hid behind the fact that I had signed the waybill in good faith, refusing to acknowledge any fault or responsibility.To make matters worse, when my insurance company followed up with Matthew and his father, they outright denied ever transporting my car. This, despite me providing clear proof of payment and email correspondence with their team. The audacity of their lies is staggering.It’s beyond disappointing to see a company I trusted for years turn into dishonest thieves when faced with accountability. Open Road Carriers may have been reliable for me in the past, but the moment damage occurred, they showed their true nature—dodging responsibility, lying, and denying everything.Do not use Open Road Carriers.
