I used Open Carriers to transport my car from Johannesburg to Cape Town and back. When my car was delivered, I noticed visible scratches on the side and side mirror. I immediately reported this to Matt, who assured me that they would cover the costs and that I had adhered to all terms. However, after several follow-ups, my emails were ignored, and I was told lies about the insurance covering the damage. In the end, my insurance covered the repairs, but I had to pay an excess, and Open Carriers refused to take responsibility or reimburse me. Be cautious when using their services—if your car is damaged, they'll forget you even used them. I’ve just seen another review from a customer who had the same issue with them denying insurance claims. Wish I had seen this before!read more

A Warning to All: Avoid Open Road Carriers at All Costs!If I could give Open Road Carriers zero stars, I would. This review comes a year after my ordeal, as I waited for my insurance company to conclude their investigation into the blatant fraud committed by this company. Let me be clear: Open Road Carriers is the epitome of dishonesty and unprofessionalism.For years, I used their service every December to transport my car from Cape Town to Johannesburg. The turnaround time was always impressive, the car was delivered on time, and as a regular customer, I even received a discount. I trusted them implicitly, and for a while, it seemed like a great arrangement. But as is often the case, you only see a company’s true colours when something goes wrong.A year ago, they transported my car again—but this time, they severely damaged the roof and scraped the ceiling of my vehicle. Upon collecting my car (the damage only became evident the next day), I immediately contacted them. Their response? Blatant denial. They hid behind the fact that I had signed the waybill in good faith, refusing to acknowledge any fault or responsibility.To make matters worse, when my insurance company followed up with Matthew and his father, they outright denied ever transporting my car. This, despite me providing clear proof of payment and email correspondence with their team. The audacity of their lies is staggering.It’s beyond disappointing to see a company I trusted for years turn into dishonest thieves when faced with accountability. Open Road Carriers may have been reliable for me in the past, but the moment damage occurred, they showed their true nature—dodging responsibility, lying, and denying everything.Do not use Open Road Carriers. No discount or timely delivery is worth the risk of dealing with a company that will abandon you when it matters most. Avoid them at all costs. They are a disgrace to their industry.read more

Thoroughly impressed with this company. No hassles with the booking. Managed to get my car delivered right before Christmas. The communication is the best part. My car was collected from my workplace in Cpt and dropped off at my home in Pta. Was too late to deliver the next day but this was communicated in advance and I really appreciated that. I looked at a lot of different companies for transporting my cars from Johannesburg to Cape Town. Right from the start I knew I had a winner. These guys made it so easy to do business with them. Nothing was too much trouble. They answered all of my "stupid questions" with no complaint. As to the actual transporting the cars itself there guys arrived punctually, they were very professional and they really knew what they were doing. They phoned me the next day to tell me that the cars had arrived. Amazing service and a good price.. I will not hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone. I went to so far as to suggest to my moving company that they partner with these guys. I gave their contact details to them and I really ope the moving company follows through on it. A quote was requested to move my car from Cape Town to Johannesburg,I actually asked more quotes from other carriers.I made the booking for the car to be transported and then the unknown,due to a not so honest seller of the car to me,happened. My car was longer in the mechanical shop then expected with more costs to follow.
Frans was all the way in contact with me,either by phone or e mail,and changed delivery dates to accomodate me,all with a smile,no extra costs and a friendly voice.
Openroad carriers was the most expensive( albeit not major) and I just got a good feeling that I would choose this carrier.
Delivery was a breeze in Cape Town,and again the personel in Cape Town ,swift and responsive after I could not find the drop off point.
I will ask my friend ,who picked up the car to forward her experience in a review,I only had flawless,hasselfree service from them and Frans
A surprise was when the driver of the truck,Aubrey,called me at 12 noon and advised me that the car would be ready for collection at 1330 pm. Wonderfull people to deal with!
My car was transported on friday the 30 th of November from Cape Town tomOlifantsfontein, another bonus was that I could drop off the vehicle a day before,at no extra cost, dealing with the crazy traffic in Cape Town made life easier

I had to get my busted Jeep from Umkomaas to Pretoria, and these guys sorted it all out... picked up the vehicle from the Dive shop we were staying at, and dropped it off at my house in Pta. On time...as promised... (actually a bit earlier than expected). Very efficient and good communication throughout. Staff were friendly, professional, well presented and knowledgeable. Pick up was delayed quite a bit but this was from a knock on effect of the truck being late from the previous run. If I have to move another vehicle I will definitely use Open Road Carriers again!read more
